I didn’t know you, but I mourn for you.

I wasn’t there that day, but I watched in horror from afar.

I heard you say you couldn’t breathe, but still he persisted.

I heard you cry “momma”, my heart sank, but no one did a thing.

I didn’t know you, but I love you just the same.

I’m sorry your breath was stolen by white hands, but it won’t be in vain.

Your life had value, they didn’t see that, but we do.
